A group of five friends that loved music and sometimes arranged small music sessions in the basement of their rented home could have never thought that one day they would become one of the most popular local bands in Sweden. So when did it all start, and who are these people?
The Swedish rock band formed in 2018 and started to perform the covers of different rock songs with their special interpretations. At first, they were performing only for their group of friends, but when they realized that they could become a bigger group and develop their music career, they started to seek opportunities. So the group had a few goals to reach: find the funding for the records of their covers, equip their basement as a recording studio, and have a contract with a place that would allow them to play in the evenings and make money.
The starting point of the band Nemesis
One of the most difficult parts of starting a band was to find the funding sources that would keep the group going and make more covers and create their own songs. So they started to look for banks and lending companies that could approve their loan request. Now that they have their solo concerts around Sweden and have a huge fanbase, they remember their starting journey with a smile and motivation. In one of their interviews, the vocalist Johnny Webber said it was very hard to start something you are most afraid of. A group of friends, who loved to play music and sing covers, decided to create their own music band and show more to the audience.
When they started to look for funding, they had nothing. Two of the group members were working as waiters at a local cafe, one of them was a marketing specialist, and the rest were freelancing in music creation. So the only option for a stable financial source was to look for loans. Right after they got the money from the company, they started the renovation of their basement to make it more suitable for more recordings. They also bought new musical instruments, and that is when everything happened.
Where is Nemesis now?
Nowadays, Nemesis has become a very popular local music band in Sweden and performs many concerts in the cities and neighboring areas. Thanks to the success and support of their fans, now the band has two albums and many released singles. They also haven’t stopped making covers of various songs, as they find it inspiring. Johnny once even said that they get a muse from those covers, which later become a base for their own singles. The band performs every weekend at different Swedish pubs and bars, allowing their fans to enjoy their music and have a fun time. In their latest interview with a local TV, Johnny mentioned that if it were not for their fans’ support and encouragement, the band wouldn’t have survived the latest Covid crisis. According to the members of the band, the journey to any crazy and creative idea is very hard. All you need to have is determination, set goals, and confidence that you will get anything you really want.
